ARSC ESG Certification
An independent assessment of commitment to the environment, social responsibility and governance, for companies, public institutions and NGOs in Romania.
The ARSC ESG Certification is a voluntary assessment of ESG performance across 27 indicators and 3 pillars: Environment (max 40 points), Social (max 30 points) and Governance (max 30 points). It is issued by ARSC, within the collaboration partnership with the Department for Sustainable Development, based on its own methodology aligned with the National Strategy for the Sustainable Development of Romania 2030 (SNDDR 2030) and with European ESG reporting good practice. The final score (out of 100 points) determines the level achieved, and the minimum threshold for a certificate is 50 points. The ESG score assessment takes 5-10 working days from receipt of complete answers and payment confirmation; in total, about 2-3 weeks from opening the procedure. The certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

What this project does
- An asset in procedures with ESG criteria: the certificate sets you apart in public procurement procedures and funding calls that include sustainability criteria, depending on the requirements of each procedure
- Access to European funding: you prepare for your partners' ESG requirements and organise documentation useful for CSRD reporting, the EU Taxonomy and DNSH principles (relevant for PNRR, InvestEU, EIB, EBRD)
- What you receive: a digital certificate issued by ARSC (PDF format), the ESG Evaluation Sheet with detailed scores and personalised recommendations, the right to use the “Validat ESG - ARSC” mark, a digital badge and a public listing in the ARSC ESG Register (optional)
- What it is NOT: it is not equivalent to meeting CSRD requirements (ESRS reporting + assurance from a statutory auditor) and it does not automatically guarantee qualification in a tender - its use depends on the requirements of each procedure
- Organisations in the Grey Zone receive the full Evaluation Sheet with recommendations and can request a free re-evaluation within 90 days, after implementing improvements
- Costs: the ESG score assessment is 1,250 EUR + VAT, a fixed cost for any organisation; the certificate is priced through a personalised offer after the assessment - the level achieved does not affect the price
How it works

You submit the request to open the procedure
You fill in the online form with general details about the organisation (name, CUI, field of activity, number of employees, contact person) - 5 minutes. The process starts immediately after submission.

You receive the proforma invoice and platform access
The ARSC team sends you the 1,250 EUR proforma invoice for the ESG score assessment; once payment is confirmed, you get access to the digital assessment platform - 1-2 working days.

You complete the ESG assessment - 27 indicators
You answer 27 questions grouped by the three pillars (10 Environment, 9 Social, 8 Governance) with Yes, Partly or No, and you can upload supporting documents - 30-90 minutes.

The ARSC team analyses and calculates the ESG score
The ARSC team validates the answers and documents and calculates the score according to its own methodology (E=40%, S=30%, G=30%). You receive the ESG Evaluation Sheet with scores for each pillar and personalised recommendations - 5-10 working days.

You receive the personalised offer and the ARSC ESG Certificate
With at least 50 points, the organisation becomes eligible for certification and receives a personalised offer. After the offer is accepted and payment is completed, the certificate is issued within 1-2 working days and is valid for 12 months.

- Platinum ESG leadership 90-100
- Gold Solid performance 75-89
- Silver Consolidated compliance 60-74
- Bronze Basic level 50-59
- Grey Zone Not eligible for certification below 50
