Centre for Digital Inclusion
A turnkey KIT for town halls: equipment, digital skills and programmes for seniors, people with disabilities, young people and public administration staff.
The Centre for Digital Inclusion is a framework offered to local public authorities to reduce the digital divide. It contains everything needed to open a centre in a town hall - institutional documents, procurement, training and operation. The centre is a local public service, structured on three pillars: equipment and infrastructure, skills and curriculum, citizens and community. The Romanian Association for Smart City coordinates the national network of Centres for Digital Inclusion. The first centre was launched in Snagov on 23 November 2021, in collaboration with the Antim Ivireanul House of Culture. Since then, the model has been replicated and adapted to the needs of each community in Romania.
Concept
The digital transition does not happen in portals. It happens in communities. Investments in digital services have no impact if people lack the skills to use them. The divide is geographic, generational and socio-economic - and it closes only through constant local action.
